Nice write up as always.

Just mentioned this in the other thread: now that price got $10m for a .920 career sv%, no doubt Lehner will try to use that to leverage himself. The question is, does the arbitrator look at Prices contract as an outlier or the new norm? If it's the latter, Lehner could be in for a 5-6 mil pay day.

As Rob Ray says, don't poke the bear. Offer him 3x4.7

Great Pachtion. I like the way you break down all three situations.

I'd like to think Lehner will be reasonable. I want to keep him on this team to see what he turns into, and I love his no-nonsense approach in the locker room.

I have no opinion on the tatoos, or the pugilism.

if he gets a $5-6m decision, botts probably walks away and it would add to the whole Lehner thing

I hear your reasoning for Nathan Beaulieu, but I have to think he gets more than $1.5 per. Just seems really low. 28 points last year....

Again, I know its not all about stats, but it seems if you have high stats, you get paid well.... Look at some of these names just above and below Beaulieu's 28 points last year and the salary's are all higher than $3 mil. (except entry level deals)

I'd be ok with a 3yr deal with Lehner...should give time to evaluate the younger goalies and see more of Crazy eye

the guy is very approachable in the locker room...every bit the professional...i think it comes to a reasonable conclusion

I think part of the problem is that Sabres fans haven't seen bad goaltending in almost 25 years. Even during the tank, all the goalies were really good. I don't think we realize how good we have it. Lehner is good. He's not Hasek good, maybe not even prime Miller good, but definitely worth holding on to

I was reading in the previous blog comments about walking away from Larsson's, and then read this blog, on how it's been before, but when researching things online came across this:

https://www.prohockeyrumo...ogy-arbitration-part.html

Did the walk away rights change in the last CBA? The previous cases, where they player or team induced? is this info incorrect? Or am I just misreading something, but it says the award must be 3.9 million to walk away on a player induced arbitration ruling.

Let Lehner play the year under a 1 year deal after arb. Whether it's 3.5 mil or 5 mil, shouldn't matter. He needs to prove he's worth a long term deal
